New Delhi: Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh is likely to be the next Railway Minister of the country with the Trinamool Congress (TMC) ministers deciding to resign from Manmohan Singh government on Friday.

Six TMC ministers including Railway Minister Mukul Roy will submit their resignations to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday.

Highly placed sources in the Congress said that Ramesh will likely to be given Rural Development portfolio in the next Cabinet reshuffle.

Suresh Kalmadi was the last Congress minister to hold charge of railways.

Speculations are rife that Sachin Pilot and Jyotiraditya Scindia may be promoted to the Cabinet rank, whereas Deepadas Munshi is likely to be inducted into the Union Cabinet to give representation to West Bengal.
